Five Types of Online Poker

Online poker is a game that is played widely, all around the world. Its predecessor, the traditional poker game was also very famous. Thanks to the introduction of the Internet to the world, more and more people are now playing poker because they simply do not have to leave their house in order to try their hands at the game. Online poker simply requires a computer, an Internet connection, and spare time in order to play.

Since it is played widely, there are many variations of both offline and online poker all around the world. They adhere to the most basic rules of poker, but with a few minor changes and innovations to make the game more fun and enjoyable for both the players and the ones watching.

Texas Holdem

Texas Holdem holds the distinction of being the type of online poker with most players all around the globe. It is described as a fast paced type of poker. It is also loved by casino players all over the world because its rules are simple and very easy to understand.

A game of Texas Holdem would typically start with the dealer giving out two cards face down to each player. Afterwards, he will lay out five community cards face up. In order to form a hand, the player takes a card or cards, depending on how many players there are, from the community cards. The laying out of community cards repeated until all five players have five-card hands, in which showdown begins.

Omaha Hi

Omaha Hi is similar to the Texas Holdem. In fact, this form of online poker is thought to be a variation of the abovementioned poker. Anyway, instead of dealing out 2 cards face down to the players, the dealer gives twice that number. The number of community cards does not change at all in this type of poker. Omaha Hi has a variant called Omaha Hi-Lo where both high and low five-card hands are considered winning.

Seven Card stud

This version of online poker has the dealer giving out three cards face down, and four cards face up to each player. It is then up to the player to make the best hand possible with the seven cards available to him.

Just like the other two forms of poker, Seven-card stud has a variation which lets player choose between forming high and low five-card hands.

Five Card Draw

This is considered as one of the first ever versions of the known game. Unlike the earlier forms of poker, the five card draw involves the dealer giving out five cards face-down to each player. After the first bet has been made, they are free to discard cards. Up to five cards can be discarded by the players if they don't find them satisfactory.

Caribbean Stud Poker

Last but not the least is the Caribbean Stud poker. This type of online poker is generally the simplest of all types of pokers. In here, one does not have to worry about beating the other players' cards. To win, all one has to worry about is beating the dealer's hand.
